Not the one I was looking for but...
????ou know that using rhe turn and orimw repear merhod yoy have to go around twice
at least the lifters should bleed down if someone precharged them with oil
better even than bent valves and pushrods
I didnt remember that
figured it out a long time ago and then forgot
I'll wirte it down and forget where
Yur done; the point is to fill the rocker shafts, so at start up you get instant oil flowiing.Once I get oil flowing to the heads, am I done? How long should I let the oil flow?
Was it coming out of one head the first time and the other head the 2nd time? If so, that is normal; the 2 sides will oil at different crank angles.Success! Got oil flowing through all rockers on both heads.
I was turning the shaft with the drill at full speed, “next thing you know old Jed’s a millionaire!!! Oil that is, black gold...Texas tea...” I had an oil fountain squirting a foot into the air! Funny thing though, I noted the balancer position when it happened, and it was right at 0 on the timing cover. Next time around it was maybe 10* before the 90 mark I had made. Is this a problem?
Yes, you are done. Also a question about the priming process. Once I get oil flowing to the heads, am I done? How long should I let the oil flow?

That's what I love about this site.Cheers!
By the way, I really appreciate that the folks here care enough to actually want to see proof a job was done right. it’s my car, not anyone else’s, but you all are so invested in teaching and helping, and it shows. Hopefully someday I get to pass along the knowledge I’ve gained here.
I thought his keyboard has a stroke. You need some sleep. Your typing is gibberish.
This the one you looking for.
Yep. That's the one. Thanks
Call...didnt screw in the oil pressure sender before priming the pump with a drill. Got oil jet right up the nose....I'll call your ratchet and raise you a "reverse at highway speed"

I'll go you one better.
Once upon a time; I had the carb off my car, and the fuel line pointing sort of at the windshield.
For some reason that escapes me, I wanted to bump the engine over. So I just twisted the key and released. And instantly I had a fire under the hood. I mean instantly.
And you know what us cowboys do when a carb backfires and you get an intake fire, right? Sure as heck, my reflexes hit the key to suck the flame down. About a millisecond later I realized my mistake and started yelling Fire! Fire! I jumped out and starting pushing MY FLAMING car, out of the shop with every ounce of power I had, still yelling Fire! Fire! Just as I got the car out, my BOSS comes racing out with the fire extinguisher (I had no idea where it had been hiding), and he let her have it. Total time IDK maybe 10 seconds.
But my Boss was a smart cookie; he actually put the shot right where it needed to be, with just the right amount, and clean up was minimal.
Now, EVERY time I take a carb off, I remember that event. It is permanently emblazoned in my memory.
It really doesn't matter and there is really no "correct." You could drill another hole 90° from the fzctory hole for twice as much oil or chuck the cm up in a lathe and cut a groove where the oil holes are for constant oiling. Ma Mopar engineers (or whoever came up with the oil hole figured there would be plenty of oil up top with just a squirt everytime the cam rotates. The important thing is oil's getting into the heads. A few builds back, the Comp cam in my 440 flowed oil exactly opposite of what the book said. (It went to the DS head at whatever crank angle, when the book said it should be the PS head..) So, I believe the cam makers don't give two shitz about the oil timing relative to the cam position, as long as there's two holes drilled at the proper angle to connect the main journal feed and head feed holes..I stopped paying attention after that. Turn it 'till it squirts!
If people didn't make mistakes they wouldn't put erasers on the end of pencils!I fold!! It's good to know I'm not the only one who does foolish things. But hell, if we didn't make mistakes, we wouldn't have any stories to tell!

Speaking of which,
I wonder how much adult-onset deafness isn't deafness at all, but the lack of pencil useage after high-school.lol.
I am constantly amazed at how much earwax my ears produce.
