Post 11 second small block combos

-
Update on my Dart i ran many 7.1 passes in the 1/8 a few months back (instead of the mid 7.2's when i was running 11.40's in the 1/4),so im guessing i should be deep into the 11.30's in the 1/4 now .Same 10 to 1 hydraulic cammed small block ,just lots more tuning ...

7.1's in the 1/8th will get you 11.1's in the 1/4!!!!!
Not in my car it wont.It has always lacked MPH and ET in the second leg of the 1/4 thanks to it running out of cam about 100 feet from the end.Hence the ET of 11.43 and the sorry MPH of 114 as a previous best.I should be crowding 120 MPH at that ET level ...

what hydraulic cam are you running? heads? thanks
Unported 70's vintage Econo W2's ,with an Edelbrock Performer RPM cam .I think its like .484 /.510 lift and 230 duration .Im not a serious racer though ,i only race a few times a year at 64 and older Nostalgia events for fun .The low buck motor has held up well ,so i have left the internals alone...

Hedman Hustler Fenderwells ,homeade subframe connectors ,and $35.00 60's Foxcraft slapper bars (Craigslist Specials).Stock OE 6 cylinder springs and torsion bars ,8.75 rearend with 4.10 gears and a spool ,26x8.5 M/T slicks on 15x7 steel wheels,Powergilde trans with 3500 convertor.Best 60' was a 1.54 but most of the time its 1.55-1.59 depending on the track prep .Here is another vid of my crusty Dart last spring .It appears in frames :46 and 2:16.I ran 6 passes in a row all under 7.20 with a 7.17 for a best this day and went 95.03 mph on that pass ...

have you tried a 3 speed with this combo?
Im sure it would run faster with 3 gears ,but the PG is built well and paid for.We are just racing for fun at these Nostalgia events i attend and most of the time its handicap start Bracket racing anyway .If the PG ever gives it up a 904 will take its place though...

Not trying to hyjack the thread ,but i know you guys like racing vids anyway.I found this one from last Fall of the kind of drag racing im into.First race of the day is my Dart making the 11.43 pass with a 7.23 in the 1/8 .The motor stand with wheels in the other lane was running me down at the end but the advantage i had off the line was more than he could make up .Im usually the only Small Block Mopar out of 200 plus Nostalgia cars racing ,and i break alot of SBC hearts every time...

Well my small block,238 ci motor in a 62 Valiant got anouther record in Eureka last week end.Went 11.436 @ 114.89.New A/Gas record.Lowered my B/gas record with a 11.449 @ 114,51 but couldnt back it up,so it stands at 11.50 @113.This is in a footbrake all motor slant six race car..Guzzi Mark

Mike Jeffries prepped head.102 over Wiseco pistons on k1 rods,Comp cam 530ish lift with 1.6 rockers.600 Holley vacume secondaries carb on a Clifford manifold, and Clifford headers.12.3 compression...Will share and post ANY info wanted.Guzzi Mark

I have to add, when I put this all together,I was hopeing to be able to break into the 11s by the end of the year.I honestly think I just got plain lucky on my combo.I am pretty good, but according to my figures,I built a 11.90 motor.I screwed up in a good way someware.Still dont know where I went wrong,or right with my combo.Guzzi Mark

how many rpms do you turn? about 12 years ago i could have bought a 4 brrl intake and headers for a slant six and past it up. dumb huh.

Had a 6800 rev limiter, was just barely bumping into it about 50 ft from the finish line.Think 4.30 gears would be a little better for me at this point.I am running 4.56s and shift at 6400.Shift lite is on the whole last 1/8th mile with a very tight spincher.Mark

:cheers:Hi I am new to FABO. I first posted this on the 12 sec thread but now I get to move to this one, Yah! My original goal for car
was to get into 12.80s but the car did that easily.

Last outing it was 104 deg out at 7 PM with 60% humidity.

Results were 12.40 - 12.41 @ 108.6 MPH all night. 60' @ 1.66-1.68

I shift at 5800 and run thru traps at 6100. I am getting valve float above 6000
so that is to be addressed. I just changed to ATI 8" 4500 stall, hope to see 11s
soon, once the weather cools down.

I have enjoyed seeing how many different ways people use to acheive the same
results, cool!

Chuck.

My new converter from ATI went in. Took car to Speedworld last night.
The temp outside was 85.
60' improved to 1.59.
ET 11.81 (6 tenths lower)
MPH 113.0 (5 MPH increase) same engine speed, just less converter slip.
I thought that was great for just a converter change.
I made no other changes. Drove car the same way as before. I still expect to see
improvement with valve springs.
Chuck.

Well after working out bugs for an entire racing season, The Best has been 11.45@ 117 with a 1.700 60 ft. Had to get a new converter, ended up with a tci 10" street fighter that stalls around 3200. Also ended up with a 950HP E-85 carb from horsepower innovations. There is no doubt in my mind that with an 8" converter that stalls about 5300 I will no longer post in the 11 sec. combos and move over to the 10 sec. forum.

Set a new best last friday night .11.402 with a sorry 1.58 60 foot.I couldnt ever get the car to dead hook as the track wasnt prepped well.No changes to the car at all and i havent raced it in months, just a little better air this night.Same 10 to 1 408 with the hydraulic flat tappet cam of .484 lift and 235 duration.I was so close to the 11.3's i could taste it ...

3360#, 11.37 @ 115.50 mph

Getting better: Best ET of 7.166 with a 1.583 60' @ 95.107 MPH. Stayed consistent with 5 runs ranging 7.166 to 7.224. Best 60' 1.562. Hooking up MUCH better now after fixing the angle of the rear leaf hangers. Also found front brakes dragging (both calipers bad), which was probably costing at least .10.

New best of 7.118 with a 1.556 60 ft. 96.1 MPH. All I did was remove the outer brackets on the front bumper and change to manual steering.

That should be in the 10 second thread. Nice job, maybe I should try out the M1.
