What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Put new valve cover gaskets on. Why I thought cork would be good and leak free is beyond me. Got some rubber ones for an 85 ram and I'm good to go.

Cleaned and waxed and Will clean again the duster. Also had some help. Also found a second broadcast sheet.

I haven't attended a single car event, this year. Too busy working on my puss-bucket...
Martha T Berry?
Hey Mike! Yes, Martha T Berry facility on Elizabeth (& Groesbeck). It was their 2nd annual event. They did an awesome job with everything (passing out ice cold waters all day long, food trucks, WCSX on hand, 5 or 6 trophies/plaques, etc...). Will definitely plan on attending again next year.

Finally got the linkage straightened out with the Lakewood bellhousing. Drove to work this morning, coworker just bought this Ford (never seen the camper package with the rear axle further back).

Dropped the gas tank by 6am this morning, amazing how nice this 66 valiant belly is, happy to see this area with zero rust proofing, second picture is under the car.

100 degrees here right now and i am going out to start a fire and burn some old hay around a ditch, Joe

Should have the car running tonight, and then comes the thrash for the next 5 days. My pile of crap, should make it to the nats/Columbus.

Okay, two wiring bugs, and my Thermoquad is gushing out the vents. We didn't have the ignition on, and were trying circuits. Back to the circus in the morning...

Spent the last few days on trans related stuff. Dropped the pan, adjusted the bands & changed filter. Also did a lot on getting the Bouchillion Kickdown properly sorted as it was tending to hold gears a little too long when set for full travel at WOT. So, I extended the kickdown on the throttle body and then moved the ball outwards slightly on the trans kickdown lever so that both pivot points were equal. Did a quick test drive today and I can’t believe how good the 1-2 & 2-3 shifts are when in drive, pretty much seamless - almost imperceptible!

I'm still jacking with the windows, doors, division bars, seals, channels, stops, glides, slides...:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

It's trying my patience to say the least. After much blood and sweat, I've finally got the window frame and door glass in place, the rear channel is in, the lift channel is in and everything is greased. The last thing is the regulator. That's where I'm currently stuck. In order to line up and install the three 1/4" bolts that hold the regulator in, the regulator needs to be cranked around to about an almost fully up position. When I crank it to the fully up position on the bench (with great difficulty because the spring is so tight), that same tight spring causes it to re-rotate and snap back on its own to its fully down position before I can get it into the door and bolted in. It doesn't seem right that the window regulator has a "default" position, but that's what its doing.

The strange thing is that the other door regulator doesn't do that; it cranks to whatever position I want it at, and it stays there.

I think its one of those things that I'll be better off coming back to it in the morning with a fresh back and a fresh attitude.

Started attacking rust on the roof. Found some swirl marks from previous owners, lots of pitting. Have some Ospho coming in the mail.

Took the avatar out for a cruise and dinner with my wife. After all, it had cooled off here in Florida to a cool 93F.

Here's a (poor) pic of the dash when we pulled in showing the temps after about a 20 mile drive in stop and go and 50 mph driving. Only had 1 of the 2 electric coolant fans running. My "Coolant High" light turns on at 185 and off at 175 so I use it to watch my fan needs when on the streets. Trans cooler fan had not been turned on. Not bad for your basic 8" 5000 stall torque converter! (A few spirited launches and it warmed up to about 180F.)

Not today but last night. Finally put a coolant recovery tank in. No more losing coolant for me now!

I finally got started on my race car! I bought it in April and it's been sitting since! Pulled the front tires off and found all brand new rotors, calipers, pads and all! It's like opening up a fricking Christmas present!

Although I have plenty of projects and chores. The weather has been pretty cool the last few days, so I'm taking it easy and have been driving around and spending time with my Pinkie.
