What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Looking at the difference between an Edelbrock 440 Victor intake and the Indy 440-2 MW intake I just got.

I am thinking my 499" RB is going to like the Indy a lot more.

Another Weekend Show, Working through the week in the Garage to make an exhibition for all these show awards. The office is over run! Have not figured out the best path yet!

Going to at the minimum break them up by year. But then again maybe by event? Suggestions Welcome!

Today's show had 3 winning Mopars!

Installed some new reclining bucket seats from Scat/Procar. I'll be doing a write-up thread with the part numbers and more detailed photos as soon as I get a chance. After a couple of different brackets, I got the correct ones that required no new holes drilled & no cutting or mods.

EDIT: I have decided to exchange these seats for another style that doesn't have the side bolsters, as they are a bit too snug for my old man ***. I'm really not that big either. (34 inch waste)
-will update with new photos!

I also swapped my intake back to the M1 single plane. I'll probably put the LD340 intake on my '87 Dodge Truck at some point with a Holley 600. It's a 2 barrel/318 now.

Back from vacation and exchanged my new master cylinder for another one… too tired to attack it today. Wish me luck for tomorrow
New master is in, leaks fixed. Just got to bleed the brakes at all four corners... Now it won't start! FM!! :BangHead:

I've been working on the 904 rebuild for the 64. Did the V8 swap, so new transmission required.

WOW...

This has been a learning experience. But, of course, just about everything on this car is a bit different.

Finally figured out the differences, so the rest should go pretty smoothly. The 273 came mid-production year, so the earlier 64 core I had only provided some of the parts. Basically, the clutch packs and planetaries can be carried over, but the output shaft, trunnion flange and tail housing itself are all different.

Purty. I like the colors, but I just now noticed the air cleaner. Love it! Did you create that yourself?

Last night and today I Pulled the supposedly 750, put the carb on I bought here from a member 6 years ago on, 670 Avenger, she likes it MUCH better

That's great to hear. But please get a 2nd throttle return spring on there so I can shut up and go away. Drives me nuts how poor tech is at EVERY track I've been to and they don't even look for this one simple thing!

Many, many years ago at Quaker City Dragway, I saw a BEAUTIFUL black 69 Charger get wasted by a guy doing a burnout behind him as the Charger sat in the lights and this guy's throttle return spring broke. Car ended up in the Charger's trunk!

Have a spring break and you'll better understand why I say this.

finaly got the p-brake sorted on the 50 dodge p/u
took it apart 13 years ago
truck came with 2/3 transmissions and brake set-ups
so had the p-drum relined ,rebuilt the trans ,had a bunch of spare parts and there were 3 differnet set-ups
took about 3/4 hrs to figure -out how it went ...just need a c-clip and one -less task ready for drive shaft and drive line is done

Fired up the new 440 yesterday for the first time. Did start but wouldn't stay running below 900 rpm. Vacuum was steady and good @ 15-18. Idle stop adjustment no help, but was pretty smooth at 1k rpm holding the throttle open a little. Tried tweaking the timing a little, no help. Did have some strong lifter noise on the driver side with 80 psi oil pressure, sounds like a dead lifter, so didn't run it long. Going to investigate that first. Stock rockers and shafts. Soooo back on the wrench today, but getting closer!

Found the ticking was exhaust, plenty of oiling on the rockers. Engine has an air leak I am assuming, as it still wont idle below 1k. Doesn't matter though, rear main leaks like a 200000 mile engine. Last straw on this one. I haven't the patience to pull it out again right away, still recovering from the first time I pulled it back out for the messed up freeze plug. It does sound sweet though, but is a boat anchor at this point. I guess the seller here didn't have a fkn clue.
From the ad... "1977 440 rebuild. New pistons speed pro 350NP .060. Resized rods and bolts. Steel crankshaft. New mild cam and lifers. New values and springs. New timing chain. New oil pump. New water pump. New intake. New valve covers. New distributor. All done by a machine shop in TX. The engine is new never started". My ***...

The "new" valves I removed could wiggle around in the guides about .075 and had burn pits in the back so deep they are scrap. So, new heads there. Then the freeze plug, could of been a better install, was tipped in the bore allowing a good leak with no pressure. Pulled the engine for that one. This rear main leak did it in though. I will have to pull it and send the block out for full checkout before putting it back in. I will stop ranting on here for this POS. I still can't identify the guy, just not in my wheelhouse. It did have new .060 over pistons and a new Sealed Power cam. Who rebuilds an engine and doesn't do the rear main seal? I could tolerate a drip or two while it is breaking in but not a puddle. I should of pulled the crank, but clearances on the rods and mains I checked were in tolerance and it did look freshly cut. My last rant on here as I said, hopefully I can make the October show I was shooting for, Carlisle is off the table.

I have had a lot of great experiences on here with the 2 small block barracudas I built and sold, many parts purchased here and excellent support and advice. Thanks to all. I miss those good ole days after this fiasco.

Sad thats why I bought a engine to build
Have a good machinist
So i know what I'm getting......

Washed my Dusters after installing new tires and repainting the Rallye wheels on the Twister. Posed for pictures and a test drive of both on the new tires.

Dusters's are beautiful. What size garage is that 2 1/2 car?

Thanks! The larger building is 40 feet x 60 feet. I have five cars in it. Another one, maybe more, could fit, but I have a lot of stuff in it and a storeroom built in a back corner, and eventually, one spot will get a lift. The smaller building off to the side is 20 feet x 40 feet and I have four cars in it.
