I just bought a 40-gallon capacity parts washer which requires 20 gallons of cleaning solvent. What kind of solvent or cleaning agent would you guys recommend, and where's the best place to buy it? Thanks a lot.
In Ca. it's called "thinner" for VOC compliance. I get it at a Chevron distributor. Have never had a problem with it.I'll share my experience here...
I bought a Harbor Freight parts washer. I filled it with non flammable "Purple Power" degreaser. The degreaser completely removed all of the red paint from the water line down. I didn't realize it until I flipped on the washer motor which became instantly clogged with liquified paint.
I have yet to get the thing back up and running.
We have a local company that supplies John Deere with their lube products. They also have solvent. Good stuff. When it's new it's a good idea to soften it up a bit with some atf. It makes your hands tingle but does it clean good. Mineral spirits!I would like to get some of the stuff Safety Clean USED to sell.

There are LOTS of SAFE cleaning agents out these days. You don't have to use something that'll dry your skin until it cracks and bleeds, or will ruin ground water in case of a spill. I use this:

I might swap to this. Thanks RRR
