    need new lifters...

Correct me if I am wrong, but somewhere I was reading that alot of the manufacturing of the lifters went overseas (China or Tiawan) and a bunch of cam manufacturers had lifter failure out the arse due to this. Now the manufacturing has been ramped up back here at home and the 'problem' has been...

    4.7 compared to 5.2

Our family's machinist won't even rebuild the 4.7; it seems to be cheaper to order a crate motor. In fact, Joe hates that particular motor as much as he hates FoMoCo's 4.6L and he is usually quite the fan of Ford and Mopar.

    67 Barracuda Conv

If you go with a 318 for a runner motor, try to find a set of '302' cast heads from the mid-to late 80's 318s (not 100% if they'll fit a 273's bores well; I know that era of 360 heads-aka '308's' won't). Nice flow, hardened seats...put 'em on a buddies runner 318 (in a '72 Scamp) and he...

    Flowtech Headers

Use good attaching hardware (Stage 8/Breslin locking fasteners) and gaskets. Also, if you can spend a little more coin, get an X-style crossover when you are getting an exhaust put in. You won't regret it.

    440 a-body manifolds

Yeah, I thought that might be the only way to find what the market will pay. I remember seeing an ad in MCG where a guy wanted $3500 for a set! If he got that much...I would consider going into the re-pop business for $2K a set like everybody else here would.

    440 a-body manifolds

I have literally inherited a pair of exhaust manifolds off a '69 Dart GTS 440 car (along w/some other car parts). My grand uncle's hot rod buddy told me that they came off my uncle Dave's car that got rear-ended heavily in the late-70's (the trunk panel was 6" from the package tray). They are in...

    Old dodge commercials

The best is when your 75 yo Ukrainian father in-law sits down, watches them, and then proceeds to tell you how beautiful older American cars were- not to mention the quality of the cars and the commercials!

    Thermo-QUAD!

I'd rather do a slight cut to the head surface. Around 9.0/9.25 to 1 compression would work nice on the street; the heads are '91 360 swirl ports from a 1-ton van. A magnum swap would entail more cash and complications and this is not to be the final motor for the Valiant, it is the inbetween...

    Thermo-QUAD!

Thanks- I figured it will probably make a decent, inexpensive street/strip combo in the Valiant. Hopefully I'll get a chance and have enough spare cash to pull the powertrain before anybody else or the yard crushes it! Last question- anybody know what the stock compression in this 360 is? I'd...

    Thermo-QUAD!

Thanks guys- I'll try to get to it here in the next 10 days...gonna be rough because the transfer gears or differential just went 'Pop' in my little turbo Caravan yesterday (just put a '91-up suspension in it w/Koni struts and was on my way over to the alignment shop, took a left at an...

    Thermo-QUAD!

Was parusing the local "Git-UR-Parts" a couple weeks back when I noticed a VERY clean '73 Dodge D-150 "Grandpa's truck." Fresh arrival, was quite complete :wav: . Somebody took the air cleaner and kick down, but the MINT thermo-quad on the j-headed 360(1972 casting)...the odo reads 76,334 and...

68 DART Trunk panel trim. Reparable?

'Paul's Chrome' or 'Mr.Metal Shine.' Both seem to have a good reputation, but prices won't be cheap...if you were here in Seattle I'd steer you towards 'Art Brass' in Georgetown area. They've done a few small things for me and done good work.

    Radio delete/kick panel spkrs

Thanks Mike...the Valiant is a real stripper model-the only options on it are auto tranny, 225, rear defogger. I will build it some, but the car will probably look like a vintage state trooper car more than a muscle car in the end :). Does anybody know of any outfit or person that would have or...

    Radio delete/kick panel spkrs

As goofy as it seems, I would like to install a radio delete plate in my '69 Valiant V-100 2-dr while hiding a modern set-up. I know a company makes the kick panels for A-bodies that have speaker mounts...but I failed to secure the company name. Any help would be appreciated- I want my...

    Keisler 5 speed info

Gee, you mean some folks w/ muscle cars actually DRIVE their cars as God intended them to be driven? I though they just sit at car shows, roll in and out of trailers, and then end up getting auctioned off to the next poiser...wow, I learn something new everyday!

    318 police engine?

Another "Cop Car" give away is the metal 'data tag.' Police cars of that era had a code stamped into that tag...look for A38. Many also had a second tag that simply said "Special Handling." Later cop-mobiles are AHB-coded, but that wasn't until '82 or '84

Visiting the US from Australia - Car insurance/rego etc

You're putting too much thought into this; just do what Vicente Fox's "Dual rights/psuedo citizens," have mastered. Come to the country by whatever means, work under somebody else's ID, get a license (too bad you speak english, you won't be employing a state-paid intrepretor), sign up for...

    well.....

Just stumbled in; the 'Redmond Post' is present and accounted for. Still have my '68 Dart GT (V-8, A/C,original ordered at Traveller Motors on N.Callow in Bremerton-have all paperwork) and th '69 V-100 2-dr w/ 87k original on it (the $150 special, bought 'driveway fresh').

    Newbie from Sweden

Hey, I just had some "Swedish Fish" at Ikea this afternoon-my wife was listening to ABBA, too. Don't know if I should feel guilty and send apologies or expect a "Thank You" from Sweden. Ironically, the first part is true... the trifeca would have been if we would have driven down in a Volvo (now...

    Building up a Dart

Bang for the buck, I'd go with a '89-'92 360 roller motor from a truck or van :headbang: . They are littering the 'Pull-A-Parts' nowadays- and with a correct bellhousing and crank pilot hole (may have come factory), you'll have a budget performer. Higher up the money/power/handling food chain- a...

    cornering question

Improvements cost money...set a goal then get to work. I have several friends w/ a-bodies, all set up differently to the owner's taste. From the crazy-priced tubular K-member/coil-over suspension on one to the slightly modified '73-'76 factory suspension at the other end of the spectrum.

    Speaker holes and kick panels

Thanks :salut: ! I've seen alot of old doors butchered and most of the installations don't look good anyways. A few years back I saw a convertible 'Cuda that had everything molded in, custom door panels that were hard to tell from stock, and BIGGG bucks. Not gonna do it with the Valiant-wouldn't...

    Speaker holes and kick panels

Never seen it personally-but it doesn't mean it could not have been. I've had 2 people tell me my Dart shouldn't have certain items/option combos in it, yet there they are. I bought the car from the original owner and got everything down to the window sticker with the car. How many times has...

    Small block water pumps

Just another little tip; '89 Gran Fury (cop car only that year) water pumps flow like rivers :thumblef: A few years back a buddy converted his Dart to a 360 and it ran rather warm in traffic- ordered up one of those big shaft, 8 or 10 blade impeller water pumps, problem solved
