    Old Gas in Tank

7 months is not too old for the tank. You most likely just have stale gas and a drain and refill should cure this. The ethanol/varnish problem usually arises from cars that have sat unused for many years (before ethanol was in the gas) and then refilled with fuel containing ethanol...

    Old Gas in Tank

How old is it? Raise the back of the car up high.....remove the supply hose to the fuel pump and it should start to siphon out.....if not use a vacuum pump to start the siphon. If the car has been sitting for a long time, there is likely a coating of varnish like film inside the tank. The...

    Dodge Shadow Front Suspension Question

Could also be as simple as the nut on top of the strut shaft is a little loose. This is the nut that is visible from the engine compartment in the center of the strut mount. Try an impact gun on it to see if it tightens.

    Welder for body metal

I had a cheap 110 welder w/o gas. It was very difficult to easily weld sheet metal. Then I got a Lincoln 140 with the gas. With .025 solid wire and gas, you will see a world of difference. Get some scrap and practice before putting it to the car, especially with the verticle welds.

    69 340 Swinger Questions

The turqoise color looks really sharp in these cars. I think because it seems to be a 1 year only color. I wasn't crazy about i at first, but when it is all complete it really looks great with the cast manifolds.

    69 340 Swinger Questions

You can also tell if its early or late production by the headrests. Before 1/1/69, the bench seats didn't come with headrests. Cars built after 1/1/69 had them. I also saw mention about rubber/carpet flooring. 4spd cars came with carpet, while automatics had the rubber floor standard.

    Cleaning fuel lines... help!?

Compressed air is the best way, but not a sure thing. I used compressed air to clean out the fuel line after the car was sitting for over 20 years. I could hear bubbles in the tank so I thought it cleared the line. The line was clogged with crud, but there was a pinhole through the crud...

    I need 69 340 valve cover pics

I also say it looks like the passenger side. PCV valve goes in the hole in the middle, but the important feature is the short half circle heat shield to protect the alternator wire harness from the heat of the choke housing. Looks like it is there in the picture.

What stupid things have you done?

Had a 71 Road runner about 20 years ago. Went to drive it up on ramps to do some work underneath. After some initial resistence, I gave it a little too much gas, and drove right over the ramps. Got out of the car, and saw the ramps firmly wedged under the rocker panels, front suspension in...

    A/C leak detectors

Have you tried soap bubbles first, or soapy water in a spray bottle, to see if you can find any obvious leaks? I have had good luck with the soapy water about 80% of the time. Common areas are condensor leaks from rocks or other road debris, and compressor end cap seals

Duster in the Harbor Freight Portable Garage- fits, just barely

I used that same harbor freight portable garage for my Dart this winter. It was great. I tied a rope from the peak at each end to the front and rear bumper. It held up with 75 MPH winds, as well as it was the perfect shape to allow the snow to fall off, even with a 22" snow fall. I would...

    poll: new or old car?

Work is a 90 - 100 mile round trip. For that I love my 2001 VW Jetta 5spd. 33 mpg, great heat, ice cold ac, cruise control, monsoon stereo, and quiet on the road. And it's paid for. However, I like the old car for local errends, parts store etc. You also need one for the local...

    RRunner in Wendy's commercial

Just saw a new Wendy's commercial. There is a 69 Road Runner 4spd at the drive through and he chases the guy who runs up and steals his order. Pretty cool to see it on tv. Reminds me of the Dodge commercials from 2-3 years ago with all the Darts, Chargers and Daytona's in the flashbacks.

    Thoughts on enamel paint.

When I bought my car, the paint was so faded and discolored. I compounded most of it, and wet sanded other parts. The color came back so bright and shiny. It is unbelievable how well the 40 plus year old paint held up. I always thought, and still do, that when I do get it repainted, I...

What ever happened to drip rails?

If you wipe down the door seals with a silicone spray lubricant, or dielectric grease, it will help repel the water and reduce freeze outs. My 90 Daytona drivers door latch would act up in the cold. You could open the door, but then it would not catch when you tried to close it. Needed to...
