jokes on you, the inherent design of the two barrel has two modes: idle and FOWAONot if you never go WOT!

it's not a bug, it's a feature.

The mismatch is very little and is done all the time. Even the factory did it with the late 318 4 bbl. cop motors.Adding this to a 318 does not work, 360 ports are to big. i know from experience, engine will not run right until full operating temp, i removed this and went to the original 318 intake then all good
Same casting number as a 273 4 barrel single plane factory piece. You could use a Marine intake. They were four barrel single plane intakes.
And some have 2 impeller(known as 2 pocket) pumps & each bank has separate flow & water cooled exhaust.but... but the water runs thru those backwards, rusty!
It would be fun to compare, but shipping is a killer .....Is a 68 318 2 barrel of interest to you? I have one I will never use.
Up by the Wis & IL borderCan’t remember what state you’re out of, but I get around a bit.
I have one too, thanks
But remember, this is a discussion thread and not a Parts Wanted ad.
Dual plane, no question offers better low end torque. That is what they were designed for.
Single plane is a high rpm/top end type manifold. Poor low speed runner velocity.
When you swapped to the 318 intake, did you use the same 360 carb?Adding this to a 318 does not work, 360 ports are to big. i know from experience, engine will not run right until full operating temp, i removed this and went to the original 318 intake then all good
Thinking on doing a 318 over the winter for the truck. Will be a LA roller block, and I don't care about WOT.
I have not tested anything with the early year (like the '69) single plane vs the later year intake. Thinking best torque/power up to about 3000 rpms.
At this point, I know pretty much the rest of the build, just wondering if anyone has compared these intakes. At this time, this direction, it will be the BBD 2bbl. As always, I may change my mind... LOL
As in older intake, the picture below references what I'm talking about

Look at the meat between those cylinders. I bet that block can stand .100" over and not even sweat.Love the '68 9.2:1 cr 318, 230 hp 2 bbl engines.
Free Floating Light stock rods, Pistons .040 ths in the hole on the stock bore.

LM318 Marine four barrel single plane, is the same casting number as 273 four barrel, but has a taller carb mount, which is then machined at an angle to match the installed angle on a boat, so carb sits level(parallel to waterline). Uses a Carter 4 barrel, forget tag number.Blanket statement that's mostly true.... but, not in all cases. Small block Holley Street Dominator was a single plane that I did a comparison against other dual plane intakes such as Weiand Action Plus and factory cast 4bbl intake and the SD cut the same 60 ft times. Some stock engines came with single plane intakes that created lots of low end. Like the older 318 single plane, not shy on punch whatsoever.
I Can make an adapter plate if youThat would take a little modifying though...
I will make an adapter plate for this manifold if you want. I'm about 100 miles from you or less. That would take a little modifying though...
