Got Ripped On Ebay Purchase

Sorry to hear that.
I would also think a full refund might be in order unless he's still interested in the engine.

Well, he already has the engine and transmission unfournately. When I bought the engine/tranny it was already out of the car. I never did anything with it. It was funny that it was still in the car at the 1st of the auction but, by the time I was able to say anything it was supposedly already out of the car.
I guess we'll see how the rest of it goes. I still might try to talk to Paypal and ebay at somepoint to at least file a complaint. Anyways, rant out.

something to think of to if is if it had been sitting long enough could have stuck a ring and it just needs to fire up...

Everything you think may be true but just to play devil's advocate....the guy you got the engine from may not have known about any problems with the engine. A slight variation in compression is hard to notice unless you do a compression test. As for the block ears, you didn't notice them yourself when you bought it so it's unlikely the previous owner knew they were bad. As for blaming E-bay, I think that is totally unfair. If you were ripped off in any way, it was the seller, not E-bay. It would be no different than answering a newpaper ad, you wouldn't blame the newspaper would you? Sorry about your situation but those are the chances you take, and in this case, they should be fixable without breaking the bank. A '74 engine of any mileage needs to be freshened. You really expected 37+ year old valve seals to be in good shape?

Maybe he calmed down and worked something out with the other party.

Hey guys. Yeah things are okay for now. Mods feel free to delete this thread. Thank you.
