Father was diagnosed with it early last year. Chemo and radiation are hard on a body.

Forgot about this. Jim came home the other day. Was not even out of the car and started on a 2 hour rant. He could not find his medication and accused Taylor of tossing it. He rummaged thru the trash, finding some less than overflowing bag from the kitchen. And laid into her for 20 minutes about it. Also found the meds....right on the counter, where he left them prior to going to the ER. No apology.
Ernie has not checked up on Taylor in a few days. Jim did call us yesterday, to tell me about a burn ban being instituted already. He sounded horrible.

My mom was a racist growing up. She was not feeling well, doc thought she had TB. Sent her for X-rays, the tech shot the wrong area of her lung some how....and found lung cancer. Excuse my language here...all I heard about was how that f*cking sand n&&ger (tech was from Pakistan) could not even do his job right....the fact that he saved her from possibly having to battle lung cancer was not important. Called her to tell her I was getting married to Ernie, she put the phone down and yelled to my father "he is marrying that f*cking Spic". So when he got rolling that one day about all the "damn (again, excuse the language) slimy ass wetbacks" being such a large problem in his country I just had to walk away from him.

I have already told Ernie that I am not getting involved in there disaster. Taylor has 2 sons, one of them is a drug addict/grifter, I believe he is actually doing time right now for stealing a gun and some $$ when he lived with Jim & Taylor. She has another son, Michael, he lives local. He is married to a very attractive, extremely sweet young lady who has 2 kids from a previous marriage.....who happens to be black. When Taylor asked about having the grand-kids come out, her son has 2 kids from a previous marriage. Jim went off...saying he does not want them (again, excuse my language) half breed mud kids in his house. Taylor...well she is "out there" a bit. She seriously alienated herself from Michael....Taylor was looking for a place to run to...and he told her under no circumstances will he let her in his house. The only other family she has just moved to Germany. Ernie and I had a very heated discussion about helping her out. Stress is a big trigger for me. Right now, thanks to the virus and not being able to see the Rep that needs to tune my Spinal Cord Stimulator I hurt...in some ways worse than normal. Pain is a serious stressor in my life right now. I don't need that racist asshat down here, aggravating me. I don't want to end up in prison for killing this idiot...

This is true. Thing with Jim is he is very quiet about his past. About the only thing I know for sure about him is he was a logger and a truck driver.
Understanding does indeed go a long way. Often times, simply asking a question may get the answer someone needs.
When I transferred to Phoenix with the USPS I was dealing with an yet to be diagnosed mental health problem. I was...well....a bit rough around the edges. Very difficult to get along with. Had a select few folks I talked with, for no other reason then they seen me for who I am. Go to work one day, some woman in a business suit came out to the floor to get me. Hmmm...Followed her into a conference room...I was in the middle of the first of many EEO complaints filed about me...In the room with me was 3 EEO employees, the plant manager, my direct boss and her boss. Told me I was accused of creating a "hostile work environment" due to my obvious hatred towards "people of color". Hmmm....I ate lunch every day with this guy Reggie, who is a "person of color". If I was assigned to work with the one "Group Leader", Curtis....I spent a lot of time talking with him...he was also a "person of color". I demanded to know who had filed the complaint against me. They bought in 3 of my co-workers...all females...
These 3 ladies accused me of being the "Grand Wizard of the Phoenix Chapter of the KKK". My response...well...did not sit well with any one....I told them what I did outside the walls of the USPS was of no ones concern but mine. Went round and round with them, just saying the same thing. I asked for a brief break. Went and got Reggie, Curtis, and the 3 females that were "people of color". I had the EEO folks read the complaint to my 5 co-workers. All of them just laughed and said that if I was a racist then they must be white because I talked with all of them.
I finally had enough...and asked the 3 woman that filed the complaint against me if it ever occurred too them that I did not talk to them for the simple matter of I did not like them, nor did I trust them. Care to guess where I was again....6 months later?
"Racism"...interesting word. I often do see folks that are a racist. But I also see groups of folks who segregate themselves, whether by accident or on purpose only they know. Often times once they segregate themselves they then will either pull out the "race card" or claim that they are victims of racism.

You're a good man Doug. And the fact that you and Ernie had a heated discussion only points to the ethical dilemas you (plural) are faced with.

It's a bitch - lost a high school friend to it a couple of years ago.
80% die in the first year
Pretty much 100% by the fifth year - she made it into the fourth year, but I'm not sure it was worth the last few months :-(
