so what would a good forged crank out of a 1967 318 be worth? Thinking of selling it. I understand that 273, 318, and 340’s have the same crank.

Forged cranks are usually rougher looking on the counterweights, so I agree must be Cast crank. I don't think they were using cast cranks in 67, started in 68 using them.
 
273 and 318 cranks are generally the same. The 273's and 318's balance to the same bobweight.

340 cranks are different in that the 2 end journals are drilled out with large holes to take out some weight from inside of those 2 end journals for counterbalancing the heavier piston/pin/rod combo of the 340 engine. So while the bearing dimensions and stroke are the same for the 340 as the other 2, the balancing as it came from the factory is not the same.

FWIW, I have generally seen 340 steel cranks for around $100.

I personally cannot see the part line well enough to see if this is forged or cast.
 
Yes, it is the one in the picture and it came out of my 1967 satellite and is completely original. Everyone else says it is forged and not cast. So again my question is what is a forged smallblock crank worth if i decide to sell it?
 
Who said it was forged? Those numbers on the crank wouldn't be 2658393 would they?
 
Whether it is cast or forged would change the price. I think more people would be interested in a forged crank, raising the price.

The crank that @dibbons just posted is a forged crank. To the OP, yours looks like a cast crank regardless what year car it came out of. $50 Start a sale thread. You can always come down in price. A good crank but not too many can use it. 68 and newer 318 if you're building one. 340's had forged until 72? You would have to add hundreds of dollars of weight to this to balance it to a 340.

I just gave away a cast 340 & cast 360 crank last Friday for free. Both were standard size.
Make a Mail Box stand out of yours & call it good.
 
forged cranks usually have ugly rounded edge throws as opposed to cast cranks that look like they were poured out of a mold....hey, they were!

cast has small parting line and forged is wide as well as cast having sharper corners...

That is 100% a cast crankshaft. Those who have looked at it and said otherwise do not know what they are talking about.
 
Look at the "arrow and dots" on the first throw... that indicates what shift cast the crank. A forged crank does not have those as only a casting mold can do that.

Yep, also the raised casting number that you can see in the picture. I think the first few people to reply were trying to be nice and tactful about it , they didnt bother pointing out the obvious. When I read the title and then scrolled down to see the picture I felt bad. It was like walking in on my parents having sex, I just wanted to back out of the room slowly and not say a word. But, that's not very helpful. I must say, being new around here, that you people are a lot more respectable than others when it comes to pointing out over sites, or errors.
 
Sorry, I will edit my response. I was commenting on the photos that @dibbons posted of a forged crank.
 
Now that all the bashing has ended. I realized it was a cast crank and i scrapped it, along with the 318 and a 340 i had laying around.
 
Since you asked for advice, the guys here tried to set you straight on what you had. I don't think they were bashing you but trying to educate you on what you have.
 
Consider yourself educated more than ever now with respect to forged crankshafts. You may very well be the next one in line to show someone else how to determine the differences. Sorry it seemed like bashing, we are here to help (sometimes in funny ways, sometimes in brash ways).
