Do search on this forum, the dodgecharger forum, and google. should be lots of builds to get cam ideas.

Where do you plan to use the car? street strip both, etc.
What is axle ratio? I'll bet this is the most important variable.
What vehicle weight, what transmission?
Its good your looking at DCR.
They say for street use it is easy to overcam the 383 due to the short rod length.

I assume you will have to cut down the guide height for spring retainer to valve stem seal clearance with the valve lifts you listed.

What he said ^^^^^

As far as overcamming, I guess he could use the Rhoads lifters to spare some low speed manners...

I am planning on the rhoads lifters, forgot to put them in earlier.
Gears will be adjusted to whats needed, just have 3.55 now.
Cam wise I was leaning towards the xe275hl, just curious what others would run with this setup. Dont really want to take it past 6200rpm.
Nick at compu-flow will set up the valve train to the correct specs.

Why would you run a 4.5" head gasket bore? You'd be better served to run the MP steel shims. I'm not sure what your goals are but I'd go with the XE275HL.

What about the old mopar 528, my father has it in a standard bore 383 with stock 516 heads, shifting at 6000 put his 3500lb bbody at 12.55.... That was with a bit more gear though... 4.56

Your cam choices are fall under "Way over camed!" Because you only listed head flow to .500.
Do the heads flow any better after .500?

I tried several different cams and the smallest Lunati VooDoo solid made the most power with the stock iron heads in ported condition. The 528 was second to the Lunati. I actually HAVE that smaller cam too if you want it. lol
