My wife and I went out and purchased a grand caravan today. We were able to get a really good deal from Ontario Chrysler and so we purchased.
Now, they have a 2012 srt8 Yellow Jacket on the floor and my wife says I should forget the old cars (we have 2 already). and buy this one.
What do you members think?

I work at a dealership and have recently traded in a 69 dart, 70 road runner and a 1980 corvette on newer cars...Alot of people are liking the newer cars, 2 of them were traded in on challenger rt's...

The old cars are cheap to insure, get the new car and keep all 3!

am I the only voice of reason?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

a new car (who cares?)

or a 1968 Barracuda Formula "S" 4-speed :burnout::burnout::burnout:

that is a no brainer:violent1:

Would be a great ride, about the same MPG on the highway as the mini van if driven easy. With a top speed of 180 and 12 second 1/4's stock they are impressive machines.

the new ones are OK...but nothin beats pullin up to the light in that "classic musclecar"....

kinda says..."I'm havein' fun....as usual" (John Milner)

Just going to go down in value as it gets older.

You say you got 2 old muscle cars--that should be enough.

I would save the cash and go on trips or buy a entertainment center for the home.

I hear rumors gas is going to $5 a gallon this spring--that is in the US, over in Canada it was $1.23 a liter, 3.7 liters for a us gallon means you are paying $4.55 right now, about $1 more a gallon then the US.

Plus people drive like crap now of days. Driving isn't so much fun anymore. Its OK but was cooler when you ran the yellow and seen 2 other cars behind you go cutting pass and pushing ahead. Today its hit the brakes the second light turns yellow and chat on your cell phone and limp away from the light once it turns green a minute later.

I'm going to ready try to cut back spending on this hobby, god only knows how much I spent. The gas station was like a 2nd home to me in the past, ha ha

Yeah I know, one good blast with another hot ride and I be hook again. These punks and their fast motorbikes are really cool, they didn't have as many fast bikes as they have today 20 years ago.

Still traveling can be much fun. So many places to go and see. Some dude is going to walk the tightrope over Niagara Falls this summer, I gotta be there to see it first hand. Discovery channel is going to show it live but you know if he slips they go right off the air, lol

Although I'll admit the Charger I rented a couple of months ago had tons of interior room, was more comfortable to drive than anything else (of the many cars) I've rented the last few years (intuitive well thought out controls, comfortable seating position, easy to see out of, etc.), and was generally solid feeling, I have a real problem with going into debt with a payment larger than the one on my house to support a company stolen from it's rightful owners by an ever intrusive and oppressive government to be given away to unions and to a government owned foreign entity (Fiat) by politicians in the pockets of the leaders of those very unions.
Better that I should take a lessor amount that I can budget as I go along and using modern technology make my older Chrysler Corp car the equal of anything currently produced and far better looking.

Pretty cool synopsis!

You couldn't pry my old school Dart out of my hands for one of those.
No way.

Yes!! That is a no brainer. Get the new Chally. Comfort, speed, air, and the chicks love em. :burnout:

Wish i had this problem! I say keep one older Mopar and buy the new Challenger. Old Mopars are awesome but having 40 years of tech put in cars are great. They are building some really nice cars today ( Boss 302,ZL1, SRT). I love my older Mopars but I did replace my first new car last year ( 90 Mustang GT). I know I know it's a Ford, but in the late 80s and early 90s Chrysler didn't offer a V8 RWD car. For 2K more I could have bought a 4 cyl FWD Charger or spend less and have V8 RWD. Having a car that had fuel injection, A/C, overdrive trans, brakes and suspension that worked it was a nice change. I had a 440 Coronet to play with and the new Mustang. I can't afford a new Mopar so I went to my roots of when I was 20 yr old. So keep the old school alive but enjoy what's available to you now.

Your license plate frame could read "Used to build 'em --- now I just buy 'em..."

Can I have a ride?

I had a similar situation happen to me !!!Do I spend some money and go thru and rebuild this :

Or rather than throw new money into an Old Truck, buy one of these ??

I went with the SRT10 !!! Go with the SRT8,you won't regret it !! And when you do get it,ask if they are still doing the SRT Experience ?? And if they are,if you're able to,do it !! You'll be glad you did !!! :prayer::prayer::prayer:

I dunno Martin, that car looks nice, but everyone was raving about the new challengers, how many you see in a day now?? Me I probably see about 10 a day. Stick with the old school

Get the Yellow Jacket if you want to and you can afford it.

I bought a 2007 Charger R/T this last December I just love having the power and all of the creature comforts that are missing from my Duster and Polara.
I had a choice between the R/T and a SRT8 Charger. I chose the R/T because it had a smoother ride and better gas mileage. I wish I had the money to have gotten both of them.

Its like this with newer cars .... if you have seen one then you have seen them all.

I know a guy who has a Challenger he is thinking about selling. It is the orange one and I believe it has the 6.1 liter engine. He said he doesn't drive it that much and is tired of making payments.

I'm beginning to think my wife wants the srt more than me. She's pushing me to take one out and see what it's like. As much as I like them, I'm not in love with them. I googled and found a "1320" version, 426 version, but don't know if that's in the works or just a sema show thing. Also found there is suppose to be a supercharged version for 2012?? I should take one out and see if it sparks more interest.
I think 4spragtop has a point and this is what I first conveyed to my wife. The new Challengers are pretty much a dime a dozen now. You go to a mopar cruise night with your old ride and you have a tough time finding a spot with all the new product sitting on the tarmac. It's great for the hobby, but I suppose I'm more of a purist for the older cars.
