What is your opinion on these for a street Demon compared to a 340 or a 5.7 swap? The Demon is a factory 318 car.

i bought mine new in 2003 was made in canada by cummins for chrysler at that time. i have never had one issue with this motor. with a 750 holley and tti's with a 4 speed and 4;10 8 3/4 the car is alot of fun to drive. and at that time i used a friends name from out of state to buy it from the dealer so i didn't end up paying tax but final price was $3450.00. should have bought two

Those Crate motors were great,just like Mopar do something good inexpensive then
do away with it.
I was looking try to find a pric and the closest I found was a 360/390hp crate motor. If it is the same price as the 380hp version then you could build an equal or better for cheaper. How much is the 380hp version?
The crate motor has good bang for the buck with less conversion hassles than other choices. The 340 is also a great engine......if you can find one reasonable and then have it rebuilt but it will probably cost more than the 360 for the same power.What is your opinion on these for a street Demon compared to a 340 or a 5.7 swap? Mopar Perf. discontinued them because they stopped producing the heads and blocks needed to make them.
Rumble: You make very good points, but pushing the hemi as the only remaining crate motor?
I found this article yesterday online on making a 300 Hp magnum into a 400hp + motor by upgrading the heads, valvetain, cam and intake.
