    Still shakin'

X3 on the drive shaft balance. I had mine cut for length, then new a end welded on. It had a vibration at 50 MPH. I took it to another machine shop and the index was off. They redid it and rebalanced it and no more problems. Check the index!!!

What the hell is going on with shops?

I used to work part time for a electrician, he would double the estimate if he didn't want to do the job. We put in a attic fan in the middle of a heat wave after he gave the woman a really insane bid. It was a awful job. It's probably better to outprice the job then turn it down..

    904 or 727 ?

I have a 727 in my 67 cuda, it fits with no problems. As for which would be better, I'd rather have a well built 904 for my combo. I think you're right about using the larger 727 with your car, although a well built 904 should work and they do have less power loss...

    Bigger Rearend in my duster

Have the rear yoke on the replaced by a good shop..you should be able to re-use the rest of the drive shaft. I do believe they make a universal with the 2 sizes too. That might be the easiest fix. Someone will chime in with the part number.

Reg 833 vs 833OD Shift Rods

Here are 4 pics of 2 setups. The first is of my OD trans and the second is of one of the members here. I think he fabbed the rods and I liked the design. The second is a normal 4 spd setup You can see the difference. I still have to redo the reverse rod, I needed a rear trans mount to get the...

    Axle register size?

The register is the center hub on the axle, the wheel has a matching hole to center it on the axle. I think they are all the same.

    340/360 Convertor ?

If you have a early 340 ( internally balanced motor) you can use the B&M 360 external balance to bolt in in. If you have a later 340 (externally balancec motor) no you can't. You do need to get the flex plate from B&M to balance the early 340 TC to your externally balanced motor.

2002 mustang GT rear end in duster???

I made it from 1 1/2 " EMT (electrical conduit from Home Depot) I have a bender from Harbor Freight and I'm learning to use it. All together I have about 15.00 in it. I can feel the difference in the way the car feels. It's tighter now and I'm happy with it!

2002 mustang GT rear end in duster???

What's the distance from backing plate to backing plate? You can get the spring mounting plates and have them welded on. The brake line connection might take a little figuring and the E brake could need some engineering. I can't see it being too hard! It sounds like a nice idea!

    hypothetical swap question

By your comment, drive train I take it you mean trans too. You'll have to do some cutting for that. There are more then a few gen 3 hemis here so you should get some answers from them.

    318 to 340, 904 trans.

What year 340?? You do know some are externally balanced and need the correct torque converter.

    904 trans torque converter

Rebuild the 904! It makes more power to the rear wheels. I put a 727 behind my build and I wish I had a 904 in it. Your trans will live behind the warm 318 and you'll save money. The 727 needs a new drive shaft, your 904 doesn't! One more thing, the torque converters don't interchange.

    Whats everyone running for gears?

I run 3:23's right now but when I had the 340 in it I had 4:56'S and the 4 spd. I just want to cruise now and need the 318 to live for a while. When it was new I had commando 273 with 3:23's and a 4spd and loved the combo for the street. I've got a o/d trans waiting to go in and I guess I'll be...
